Spreadsheets for Managers National Louis University

A typical spreadsheet class contains the following:

A lecture, discussion, and demonstration takes place covering a set a spreadsheet skills and techniques which will be is the subject of the evening’s class.

Next students are formed into Workgroups and each is given a situation or scenario containing a business problem whose solution will utilize the techniques that have been covered in class.

Students discuss possible solutions and technical approaches to solving the problem as a group.

After working together in groups, students move into the lab to physically implement a solution to the problem as using Microsoft Excel.  Students work in the lab as individuals.

From time to time students take announced and un announced practical quizzes which require  demonstration of the skills and techniques that had been covered in the reading and class sessions.

Students are also provided with exercise sheets which are used to practice and develop their spreadsheet skills.  Students generally began working on these problems in the lab, but usually have to complete them at home.

Effective solutions to each problem set are normally discussed at the beginning of the next class session.
